Undersheriff Trent Taylor began his career with the
county as a deputy in the spring of 1992. After serving in that capacity for
more than 19 years, Taylor was promoted to detective sergeant as well as
detective lieutenant. He was also assigned as a detective to the Traverse
Narcotics Team in 1999.
Taylor is a lifelong Cadillac-area resident, having graduated from Cadillac Area
Public Schools in 1986. He served in the Marine Corps and Navy Reserve and
graduated from Ferris State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal
Justice. In 2005, he received a Master's Degree in Public Administration from
Central Michigan University. He also received training and licensing through the
Michigan Commission of Law Enforcement Standards.
Taylor has attended numerous law enforcement training sessions and schools on
topics such as community policing, crime prevention, executive development,
interviewing, hostage negotiation, law enforcement administration and firearms
instruction.
