Sheriff Gary A. Finstrom is a life long Cadillac resident, joining the
Wexford County Sheriff's Office in July 1977. During his tenure with
Wexford County, Sheriff Finstrom has held several positions, including
Corrections Officer, Dispatcher, Road Patrol Deputy, Detective Sergeant,
Administrative Lieutenant, Undersheriff, and is currently serving his third
term as Sheriff of Wexford County. In order to provide the most
accurate and fair services for the citizens of Wexford County, Sheriff
Finstrom has successfully completed numerous law enforcement and
administrative courses and seminars, including graduating from the
prestigious 176th Session of the FBI National Academy.
An
active and supportive member of the community, Sheriff Finstrom has been
involved with several area organizations and events, such as Rotary Club,
Cancer Society, OASIS, and Silent Observer, just to name a few.
Through both professional and personal venues, Sheriff Finstrom enjoys his
involvement with the community of Wexford County, a community in which our
children will remain to become active citizens and to raise their own
families.

Lansing – The
Michigan Sheriffs’ Association (MSA) is pleased to announce that Sheriff
Gary A. Finstrom of Wexford County has been elected President. The one-year
term will begin on January 1, 2006.
Each year the Michigan Sheriffs’ Association
votes in a new President who will carry out the orders and resolutions of
the Board of Directors. The MSA President is ascribed all of the powers
typically associated with the office, including presiding over meetings of
the Board of Directors.
U.S. Marshal James R. Dougan of the Western
District of Michigan (a retired Sheriff of Kent County) swore the oath of
office for Sheriff Finstrom during a banquet at the MSA Fall Training
Conference and Trade Show, held October 9-11 at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel
in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
“Sheriff Finstrom has been an active member
of the Board of Directors for several years,” said MSA Executive Director
Terrence L. Jungel. “I am confident that he will bring to the office the
quiet strength and resolve for which he is well-known.”
The Michigan Sheriffs’ Association (MSA)
