Accident Reports:
If you require a copy of an Accident Report (called a UD-10) where no arrest was made and you are a party to the accident, you may request this document by mail or in person at the front office during normal business hours, Monday-Friday, 8:00-5:00.  There is a $5.00 fee for all accident reports, plus a self addressed, stamped envelope if the report needs to be mailed.  Payment can be made in EXACT cash, with a money order, or with a check with the driver's license number and birth date noted of the person endorsing the check.  You may call ahead of time to ensure the report is available for release prior to coming into the office.
Please call the front office with an inquiries at 231-779-9206, during normal business hours.

Incident Reports / Photographs
If you would like a copy of an Incident Report and/or photographs or related documents, you must complete a Freedom Of Information Act Request Form that can be obtained at the front office during normal business hours or submit a written letter to the Sheriff’s Office detailing the records and/or specific documents you are looking for, including the date or incident number, the nature of the incident, and the name(s) of the person(s) involved.

If you are not a party in the report, then you must describe your connection to the incident.  This is needed to determine what might be excluded under the Freedom of Information Act, which provides protection to the privacy of the individuals involved.  Additionally, the status of any investigation may determine when a report is available.

Written requests will be responded to within 5 working days or sooner depending on the scope and nature of the request and staff availability.  A bill will be compiled to include all costs.  A deposit of $20 may be required in some instances.  Please call the front office with an inquiries at 231-779-9226, during normal business hours.

Fingerprint Services:

The Wexford County Sheriff's Office operates on a live scan fingerprint machine, a machine that digitally scans and transmits fingerprints to the State, who in return sends the results directly to the requesting agency, usually via email within days of receipt.

Costs for prints may vary, depending on reason for prints.  Payment is expected at time of prints and you must bring your Michigan Driver's License or Identification Card.  Additionally, paperwork indicating the reason for prints must be presented.

In order for prints to be electronically submitted, the requesting agency (ex: school) has an identifying Agency Number that is required for transmission.  Check with your employer for this number.  Bring a notice in writing requesting that you be fingerprinted with the Agency Number, Agency Information, your Name and Information, and Reason for prints (ex: SE for School Employment).

Typically, the machine is available Monday-Friday between 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, excluding holidays; however, the machine is portable and is occasionally out of the office.   Persons are advised to call ahead to ensure the machine is available and to inquire about fees.  We DO NOT have change.  Exact cash, check, or money orders only.  We are unable to accommodate children while you are being fingerprinted, so please make prior arrangements.

Some Known Fees are:
For School Employment, exactly $64.25
For School Volunteer, exactly $60.25
For prints only - NO electronic transmission:  exactly $15.00

Please contact the front office during normal business hours for more information at 231-779-9226.
